Your team:

Core RM is part of the Risk & Quantitative Analysis (RQA) group, which provides independent oversight of BlackRock's fiduciary and enterprise risks globally.

We are recruiting for a newly formed Core Risk Management (Core RM) group, whose objective is to advance risk management practices at BlackRock, delivering scale and resilience to the risk management platform. This opportunity is to join the Core Investment Risk Technology team within Core RM, which will work with BlackRock's centralized technology teams across the globe to ensure the resilience and advancement of the technology architecture on which risk management processes are built.

What will you and your team be doing?

Stabilizing, re-engineering, and maintaining the technology platform on which Core RM will be built and scale will be delivered - including projects owned by RQA and other interfaces/applications which are dependent on internal and external systems.
  • Understanding risk management processes, the data they use, the architecture they run on.
  • Stabilizing, maintaining, and improving the risk technology platform and tools with a focus on reducing production issues and streamlining processes.
  • Working closely with the Aladdin Product Group and partners in Investment Risk to develop the next generation of leading elite investment risk technology and tools.
  • Contributing to the team's technology development queue, partnering with Aladdin developers, users and RQA leads.
  • Applying quality software engineering practices through all phases of development, through to production.
  • Implementing processes to automate and streamline development, support, and technical management.
  • Data engineering, using established Aladdin data sources.
What do you have?

We value engineering degree holders, but we also like individuals with equivalent commercial experience (B.E. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related stream). So, if you have a good mix of the skills below we would love to hear from you!
  • Excellent coding skills in either Java or Python, 4 - 6 years' experience with a strong background in software engineering
  • Experience with distributed technologies supporting analytics and/or microservice development such as Spring, Hibernate, or Spring Boot is appreciated.
  • High emotional ownership - self-starter with high energy, motivation, commitment to excellence, and a positive approach to business challenges.
  • A strive to solve risk management problems using technology.
  • Ability to understand diverse requirements from partners and deliver on key priorities.
  • Willingness to challenge processes, propose solutions and call out issues.
  • Ability to explain sophisticated ideas in simple but impactful terms and communicate effectively up and down the organization to influence outcomes.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and running multiple high-priority tasks with senior management visibility.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Be comfortable with a flexible work schedule.
  • Experience with Cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure is a plus.

Our hybrid work model

BlackRock's hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 3 days in the office each week, with the flexibility to work from home up to 2 days a week; some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities.
