About this role
What is the opportunity?
We are recruiting for a newly formed Core Risk Management (Core RM) group, whose objective it is to advance risk management practices at BlackRock, delivering scale and resilience to the risk management platform. This opportunity is to lead a pod within the Core Investment Risk Technology team within Core RM, which will work with BlackRock's centralised technology teams across the globe to ensure the resilience and advancement of the technology architecture on which risk management processes are built.

Leading a pod or being a technical specialist within the Core Investment Risk Technology team and working with the head of Core Investment Risk Technology to shape the future state of Core RM.

Stabilizing, re-engineering and maintaining the technology platform on which Core RM will be built and scale will be delivered - including projects owned by RQA and those which interface with dependent internal and external systems.

What will you be doing?

- Leading engagement with investment risk managers and technology partners to centralize and re-engineer risk management technology architecture within Core Risk Technology.
- Designing and upholding Core Investment Risk Technology's processes and procedures that build trust and are consistent with the best practices and policies of the firm.
- Being accountable for the efficacy and accuracy of team output. Responding openly to feedback and initiating enhancements as processes mature.
- Collaborating with other Core RM leaders to develop deep relationships with investment risk leads and technology partners globally. Understanding and aligning with their mission and leveraging enterprise technology to deliver solutions.
- Consistently acting as a scale operator, driving efficiency and capacity-building initiatives, including automation/ standardization efforts across the risk platform.
- Consistently demonstrating the BLK principles, especially of 'One BLK' and 'Emotional Ownership' and infusing these principles through your team.
What will your team be doing?
Stabilizing, re-engineering and maintaining the technology platform on which Core RM will be built and scale will be delivered - including projects owned by RQA and those which interface with dependent internal and external systems.
- Understanding risk management processes, the data they use, the architecture they run on.
- Stabilizing, maintaining, and enhancing the risk technology platform and tools with a focus on reducing production issues and streamlining processes.
- Working closely with the Aladdin Product Group and stakeholders in Investment Risk to develop the next generation of leading world class investment risk technology and tools.
- Contributing to the team's technology development queue, partnering with Aladdin developers, users and RQA leads.
- Applying quality software engineering practices through all phases of development, through to production.
- Implementing processes to automate and streamline development, support, and technical management.

- Practical experience the set up and scaling of a technology team would be a plus.
- 8+ years' experience as a Full Stack Developer
- B.E. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Strong background in the software engineering in any languages like Python, Java etc.
- Experience in Spark, Hadoop, RDBMS
- Some experience with SQL or unstructured data
- Some experience or a real interest in finance, investment, or quantitative processes and with SQL or unstructured data.
- Experience with Aladdin and Cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure is a plus.
