Overview:

USWA Business delivers BlackRock's full set of capabilities - iShares, alpha-seeking and alternative products, portfolio solutions and technology services - to wealth management firms and financial advisors in the US.

Advisor Engagement group within the USWA Business delivers a broad set of services and client engagement approaches that amplify the work of our client teams. This includes digital client engagement, business consulting, thought leadership, advisor growth programs, and advisor education. The team also works closely with Global Marketing to design an integrated USWA marketing strategy. WEA (Wealth Enablement and Analytics) Engineering team within Advisor Engagement group is responsible for developing new tools and capabilities which enable Sales, Portfolio Consulting, and other Wealth Distribution partners to self-service their advisor engagements, and drive innovation and scale.

Job Purpose/Background:

We are seeking an energetic professional having hands on technical experience in design and development of Python based Applications and Angular based Interactive Data Visualization solutions.

The individual must have a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and extensive experience building multi-tier applications. The ideal candidate will thrive in a work environment that requires strong problem-solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication. Attention to detail and creativity in problem solving are critical skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn and work on various programming languages as per project needs.
  • Hands on experience in software design and development of both front-end and back-end modules using technologies/tools like Angular, Python, VBA, R or Tableau.
  • Create data visualization solutions and business intelligence reports.
  • Create quarterly activities and impact reports for each business group/channel.
  • Understand existing systems and resolve operations issues while working with other support staff located across the globe.
  • Provide development estimates on projects and tasks.
  • Perform peer code review.
  • Plan, document and conduct unit testing.
  • Create and maintain a database of client portfolios and extract insights from it as needed.
  • Develop and assist in implementing and maintaining new processes to increase the operational efficiency of the team, including automation/standardization efforts.
  • Fulfill ad-hoc reporting requirements and tasks related to data requests and process enhancement.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date process flow documents for all tasks related to assigned processes.
  • Constantly evaluate systems, processes, and procedures for inefficiencies, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Act as a backup for other members in the Portfolio Solution's analytics and reporting team.
  • Mentor and foster team members in design and development.
  • Follow and improve coding standards, quality and delivering results.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelors or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.


Eligibility Criteria:
  • 4 to 8 years of relevant software programing experience (preferably in finance industry).
  • In-depth working knowledge of Python programming language including libraries for handling excel files, data structures, reporting templates etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of writing Python data processing scripts and executing multiple scripts via batch processing.
  • Working knowledge in exploring and analyze datasets using tools like Excel/VBA.
  • Experience in writing complex SQL, stored procedures in MS SQL Server or Sybase.
  • Knowledge in any one of the visualization tools like Tableau.
  • Experience working with software version control systems like Git or Subversion.
  • Ability to work under pressure and take ownership of issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with global project teams spread across several time zones.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and time management abilities.
  • Excellent attitude, attention to detail, and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Flexibility of shift timings.
  • Team player with attention to details, problem solving abilities, and analytical skills.


Desirable
  • Use of APIs and understanding of HTTP and REST architecture.
  • Experience with sales CRM systems, portfolio risk reporting tools.
  • Exposure to technologies like data science and machine learning.
  • Knowledge and interest in the financial services industry domain strongly recommended.
