About the team:

Data Strategy & Solutions is PMG's centralized function for data strategy, discovery, and customized research solutions. This makes us the one-stop shop for discovering differentiated data sources and integrating innovative solutions into the investment process via vendor data acquisition, web-scraping, data analysis, and more. Our team's purpose is to source, develop, and deliver the data that allows investors and data specialists to make risk-informed investment decisions for our clients.

This role offers tremendous scope for an entrepreneurial technologist seeking to learn how data can transform the investment space. This role will make a meaningful contribution to our world-class investment teams. You will be working with a team that shares your passion to win.
Responsibilities Include:
You are the sort to apply yourself and help teams get unstuck; You are a dynamic leader who can run the numbers as well as empower a team. Team leads rely on you for direction, tactics, and execution.

You will work to continuously improve the efficiency of engineering processes, ensuring that customer asks are delivered as quickly, accurately, and cost-effectively as possible. In this position, you will lead a team of data engineers and own processes as soon as you start.

Key responsibilities of the role include:
  • Act as primary contact for day-to-day engineering management, including governance structure and global communications
  • Performance oversight, including reporting of performance and working closely with team leads to drive performance
  • Collaborate with and mentor your local team on their performance
  • Help your area team problem-solve and address any issues they bring to you
  • Create an environment where colleagues can produce their best work
  • Routinely deliver specific process improvements that have measurable results
Qualifications:
  • Experience managing continuous improvement from a system, data, process, or procedures perspective
  • Experience in leading and mentoring a team of 5 or more data engineers
  • Proven experience in leading data engineering teams doing crawling/scraping using frameworks like Zyte, APIs, Selenium etc.
  • Exposure to data processing technology and/or software engineering methodologies
  • Perseverance and a keen ability to quickly learn how to optimize teams and processes
  • Experience in providing consultancy to internal or external partners
Skills required include:
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment on multiple concurrent projects
  • Lean/Kaizen/Six-Sigma certifications or experience
  • A willingness to find a balance between industry standards and a pragmatic approach
  • Curiosity to learn, be hands-on, and take the lead on tactics and planning
  • The ability to understand complex reports and put the necessary actions in place
  • A confident, critical communication style and the ability to motivate your team
  • Customer-focused and driven with evidence
