This role will be responsible for all aspects of software development, testing and ensuring compatibility with enterprise and solutions architecture by harnessing modern development technologies

Business Unit Overview:

The APG Business Operations team within APG is responsible for designing, development and support of software used by BlackRock and BlackRock Solution clients for post-trade workflows. The Securities Lending APG team's responsibilities include order management, execution management, pre- and post-trade analytics, electronic trading and liquidity discovery. The team focuses on delivering best-in-class enterprise trading and post-trade solutions on one global real-time platform. We are a global team with 300+ users based in New York, London, San Francisco and Gurgaon.

The Securities Lending Trading team is responsible for the development and expansion of the platforms that serve the global Securities Lending business and affiliates, which includes the full business and operational process from trading, strategy and analytics through to client reporting and accounting. The platform processes millions of transactions per day, the bulk of which is achieved through Auto-Trading and Electronic-Trading. We leverage many open source technologies for building distributed, resilient and highly scalable systems.

Responsibilities
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills to contribute as a leading member of global, distributed teams focused on delivering quality services and solutions.
  • Able to distill complex technical challenges to actionable and explainable decisions.
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership, technical & architecture skills in the context of cloud based global platform/product design, service management and product lifecycle management.
  • Demonstrate ability to rapidly learn new and emerging technologies and developing a vision of their suitability and role as a new product within a platform & product landscape
  • Operational abilities including early life support and driving root cause analysis and remediation
  • Providing specifications according to which solutions are to be defined, managed and delivered
  • Describing the structure, characteristics, behavior and other aspects of software to project and business stakeholders
  • Identifying required software, systems and interfaces in alignment with enterprise architecture
  • Developing system implementation plans, processes, solution architectures and high-level architecture design
  • Develops, enhances, debugs, supports, maintains and tests software applications that support business units or supporting functions.
  • Participates in the design, development and implementation of complex applications, often using new technologies.
  • Serves as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource.
  • May have direct reports and may lead projects and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations.
  • Routine accountability is for technical knowledge and capabilities.
  • Works under minimal supervision, with general guidance from more seasoned consultants.


Qualifications
  • Bachelors or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline
  • 10+ years hands-on experience developing complex enterprise software systems.
  • Should have experience on J2EE, Spring (ORM, Security, MVC, AOP and Integration Framework) and JPA / Hibernate, Ignite
  • Should know any JMS implementations (IBM MQ, Kafka.)
  • Experience building UI components using latest in web technologies (e.g. React, Angular).
  • Should have experience on Relational Database (SQL, PL/SQL) and NoSQL like Cassandra.
  • Experience on Web services protocols like REST, SOAP and experience in developing using HTTP
  • Delivery using modern methodologies especially Agile, Iterative etc.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent ability to mentor junior members of the team
  • Strong ability to effectively influence design and development decisions
  • Ambitious and Entrepreneurial spirit
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
