Role Description

Join us and play a meaningful role in crafting the future of Aladdin and Technology at BlackRock. The APG COO team works closely with senior leaders to define our technology, business and talent strategy. Our team focuses on sharpening execution, accountability and data-driven decision making. The APG COO team is also responsible for helping drive the Tech Talent Strategy and Engineering culture for both APG and BlackRock. Three key areas of this initiative are the Tech Academy, Tech Cultural Events and our External Tech Ecosystem Engagements. In your role you will help drive the BlackRock Tech culture through learning, content, events, social media and more.

You will establish objectives, focus areas, action plans and build the bridge between current and future state. You will frame and analyze sophisticated problems, develop recommendations and partner across the firm to drive implementation. This position will give you immense exposure to BlackRock technology leadership and will afford the chance to learn about the financial industry and the exciting intersection of investing and technology.

This means that the successful candidate will have a critical seat in driving our tech talent strategy for Aladdin and BlackRock forward for our next 30 years. You will fall in love with the culture, be excited by the challenge, and be an inspiration to your team to get things done.

Your role and impact

The COO and Business Management team at APG is responsible in driving day-to-day operations ensuring smooth functioning of the organization. The role entails being responsible for and remediating Risk Management, owning Business Continuity Management and orchestrating Information Security issues, Audits & Risk Control self-assessment for the function in the region.

The role provides you an opportunity to work with Talent across the functions in the organization and providing support for leading Talent Management Practices.

Your responsibilities
  • You will partner with APG Global COO office to set, implement and supervise annual Talent and Diversity Objectives, aligned with the firm-wide Talent and Diversity Agenda
  • You will be a key partner in driving the hiring strategy for the region - lateral and internship program
  • You will be responsible for keeping the APG Global COO and Regional Head apprised of progress and challenges against annual objectives
  • You will be able to leverage ExCo's, OpCo's and Town Halls to drive focus of the team on critical priorities
  • Partner with APG Global COO and Regional Head to supervise and assess progress against key strategic goals and initiatives being led/delivered from APAC
  • Partner with APG Global COO, Regional Head and HR on reorganizations and re-foot-printing
  • You will drive APG's participation during crisis management and outages
  • Find opportunities to review and improve engagement and enablement of APG teams across the region using tools like EOS results

You have...
  • 10+ years of proven practical experience leading operational support and business management across large global teams
  • Sound knowledge of technologies and SDLC/PDLC processes
  • Possess working experience of agile practices
  • Experience managing and responding to Business continuity situations
  • Possesses familiarity with Risk and Audit Controls
  • Prior experience initiating large projects and driving them through completion
  • Strong contributor with ability to deliver in fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple demands
  • Intellectually curious with the ability to take initiative and deliver results in a matrixed organization
  • Ability to synthesize and distill sophisticated concepts and information into clear, concise action plans
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good knowledge of talent management practices, employee life cycle and onboarding processes
