Overview
Contributes to risk management efforts for the assigned credit risk focus, such as Credit Analysis & Approval/Portfolio Management, Operational Credit Risk, Country Risk or Credit Administration. Develops and delivers documentation and reporting in a timely manner. Helps to improve each region's adherence to the risk management strategy of the assigned credit risk discipline or contributes to the development of strategies to bring the regions into compliance with standard regional and global regulatory and policy requirements. Helps to identify existing and emerging risks that are applicable to the assigned credit risk discipline.Primary duty for each discipline is as follows: Credit Analysis & Approval/Portfolio Management: Contributes to analyses of industry, country and counter party credit portfolios and credit portfolio quality. Interacts frequently with portfolio managers. Contributes to legal documentation processes and structuring of term sheets and deals, and may independently complete drafts of documentation for review by more senior professionals.Operational Credit Risk: Contributes to the completion of numerous credit processing and assessment activities, including credit analysis, underwriting, borrower re-rating/approval and transaction review and approval for intraday credit. Approves and oversees a moderate quantity of standard credit processing and assessment activities.Country Risk: Contributes to the assessment and grading of credit quality for the assigned large, complex country. Uses growing experience to accurately and effectively track the fiscal condition of sovereigns and to develop ratings for country borrowers. Reviews ratings produced by less experienced professionals for accuracy. Prepares standard country risk assessments and integrates assessments into portfolio management for the organization's overall credit risk. Credit Administration: Contributes to the completion of credit reviews or credit submissions and other related activities and operations for the various credit portfolios. Contributes to the preparation of credit proposals, preparing documentation and financial spreads. Audits credit proposals and confirms credit approvals are in compliance with policies. Demonstrates proficiency with credit systems, such as the credit borrower rating system and credit approval system. Reviews inputs from less experienced professionals for accuracy and may provide input on credit system best practices. May be involved in analyzing and preparing adhoc and standard reporting for the credit risk portfolios.Community Reinvestment Act/Appraisal: Contributes to the identification of the appropriate balance of investments, loan commitments and community activities to align with CRA corporate goals and is beginning to manage toward the appropriate allocation. Demonstrates proficiency when reviewing real estate appraisals for commercial and residential properties. Proactively checks appraisal policies and procedures for consistency with the Bank's risk appetite and for compliance with various complex regulatory requirements. May advise less experienced professionals on compliance improvements. Contributes to analyses of existing and proposed legislation, regulatory announcements and industry practices that are applicable to the assigned credit risk discipline in order to assist with the organization's implementation of procedures to meet existing and upcoming credit management requirements specific to each region. Contributes to the development of organization-wide projects and programs to improve risk management for the assigned risk discipline. Contributes to assessments of the effectiveness of current Credit Analysis & Approval/Portfolio Management, Operational Credit Risk, Country Risk or Credit Administration risk identification and mitigation projects.Assists with the completion of industry, country and/or counter party credit quality analyses for the assigned credit risk discipline. Builds familiarity with regional differences. Contributes to the implementation of new, approved Credit Analysis & Reporting, Operational Credit Risk, Country Risk or Credit Administration risk management solutions that comply with regulatory requirements. No direct reports,, provides guidance to more junior team members, as needed. Contributes to the achievement of Credit Analysis & Approval/Portfolio Management, Operational Credit Risk, Country Risk or Credit Administration team objectives. Modified based upon local regulations/requirements.Bachelor's degree in or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.Family Requirements:5-7 years of total work experience preferred. Prior experience/background in credit risk preferred. In addition, may require the following experience/skills based on primary duties: Discipline Requirements:Credit Analysis & Approval/Portfolio Management: Formal credit training preferred. Ability to assist with the management of diverse lending, operating products, attendant risk, foreclosure, bankruptcy and/or OREO assets.Operational Credit Risk: Formal credit training preferred. Experience as an underwriter and assisting with the management of rapid-turnaround, intraday funds transfers and approvals. Country Risk: Formal credit training preferred. Experience with borrower rating systems and tracking methodologies, and basic knowledge of fiscal and financial condition indicators. Credit Administration: Experience as an underwriter and familiarity with credit administration systems typically used by financial institutions. Community Reinvestment Act/Appraisal: Strong familiarity with the Community Reinvestment Act and significant experience conducting complex real estate appraisals..
