About this role

Team Overview

The Global Insurance Solutions team is a specialist, product agnostic investment strategy and structuring team which focuses on insurance clients and serves the entire BlackRock platform. The team is comprised of Insurance, Investment and Analytics Specialists, with diverse backgrounds from across asset management, analytics, actuarial, insurance and consultancy.

A key component of the team's role is the development of the modelling and analytical capabilities required to serve our clients. We combine this with our insurance and investment capabilities to engage client businesses and portfolio managers across the whole firm to build new and innovative market leading investment solutions, and position existing BlackRock products with insurance clients.

The India Analytics team focuses on maintaining and enhancing the analytics capability of the team such as economic scenarios generation, strategic asset allocation optimisation and regulatory capital calculation. The team is also expected to participate in the production of client deliverables, particularly those with a significant analytical component, in support of discussions with the global insurance client base.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of BlackRock's existing systems, tools and other capabilities which are of relevance to modelling the assets and liabilities of insurers
  • Take responsibility for the maintenance, ongoing development and delivery of the team's optimisation models and tools
  • Manage the delivery of discrete analytical or research projects in areas such as strategic asset allocation, regulatory capital efficiency or portfolio design, including the delivery and presentation of client materials
  • Assist the team and the broader Financial Institutions Group with the preparation of analytical content in support of complex product sales and services to insurance companies
  • Keep abreast of the implications of global regulatory, accounting and capital frameworks on investment and risk management decisions made by insurance companies, leveraging the knowledge of the broader team
  • Attend client meetings in the region to support the assessment or delivery of analytical work


Experience/Qualifications:
  • At least 6 years of insurance industry experience, gained within an asset manager, investment bank, consultancy or insurance company
  • Significant practical experience of insurance capital modelling, asset-liability management and strategic asset allocation frameworks
  • Broad understanding of Solvency II, NAIC RBC and other major insurance regulatory capital regimes
  • Broad understanding of the various accounting regimes that apply to insurance companies, their assets and their liabilities
  • Strong quantitative skills, supported by practical experience of coding in Python, VBA or other programming languages
  • Broad understanding of modern financial mathematics (e.g. option pricing, hedging, stochastic processes, Monte Carlo simulation, interest-rate modelling)
  • Bachelors/Masters in a relevant technical discipline: Computer Science; Math; Statistics; Engineering; Science; from top tier institutes
  • Professional Certifications such as actuarial qualifications, FRM, CFA or progress toward a plus
