About this role

Financial Markets Advisory business delivers a range of advisory services including capital markets, portfolio construction, sustainability and data & analytics solutions to official sector and financial institution clients globally, including banks and insurance companies. We support our clients on their most critical and complex financial issues - from managing the low carbon transition of the economy and financial sector, to unwinding portfolios of assets, to crafting and executing bond purchase programs to support the economy. We leverage the firm's sophisticated capital markets, sustainability, data analytics, and technology capabilities, to deliver impact-oriented advisory services, while maintaining an information barrier from the rest of the firm. Our professionals work out of all three BlackRock regions (Americas, EMEA, APAC), allowing us to serve clients in all locations and respond to their needs as they arise.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will leverage BlackRock's unparalleled capabilities across Sustainability, Capital Markets, Aladdin (incl. Aladdin Climate), and Research functions and will engage with various financial institutions, regulators, central banks, and governments, providing advisory services to institutions in both the public and private sector. This role will allow you to build strong subject matter expertise in Sustainability along with development of technical and leadership skills by working on complex and innovative client projects. Specifically, this individual will be responsible for:
  • Lead a team of 8-10 professionals working across sustainability modeling & implementation of models for the team in India
  • Lead and contribute to the delivery of analytics for recurring and ad-hoc client engagements related to climate stress testing & ESG Analytics such as maintenance/deployment of transition/physical risk, net zero etc. and contribute to development of models in partnership with other teams in BlackRock
  • Oversee large & multi-disciplinary project teams working on sustainability including subject matter experts, modelers, analytics experts, and researchers
  • Execution of global, complex, and high-profile projects on sustainability, climate risk, econometric and financial modeling, using suite of programming languages like python and related tools/technologies
  • Focus on automation and scalability in the design and implementation of analytical infrastructure, design robust architecture/solution suitable for large scale dataset and provides flexibility to user for what-if analysis, actively presenting and discussing it with senior stakeholders
  • Design solutions to address client objectives, rooted in a clear understanding of the client and business context driving client opportunities and challenges
  • Enforce BlackRock's fiduciary culture of providing the highest quality service and work product to our clients
  • Communication/presenting results and analysis to internal/external stakeholders at all project phases
  • Collaboration with global engagement managers and project team on overall project execution and content creation
  • Work in close partnership with FMA leadership including senior management, business development leads and practice areas heads
  • Liaise with the other functions of BlackRock such as BSI (BlackRock Sustainable Investing), Aladdin Sustainability Group (ASL), Financial Modelling Group (FMG) and Portfolio Analytics Group (PAG) on project execution


Qualifications
  • 6-8 years of relevant experience in consulting, banking & financial services, Environmental Economics, Climate Sciences, or other relevant fields
  • Strong programming skills in Python required, additional experience with a variety of other programming languages, especially scripting, database, modeling, and visualization tools helpful
  • Ability to lead & execute projects related to data-driven analytical projects utilizing programming languages like python and tools with a track record of outstanding achievements on data engineering, model development, validation, and implementation
  • Strong understanding of data structures, object-oriented concepts, design patterns, and statistical tools
  • Ability to write/develop and understand complex financial algorithms/statistical models with minimal supervision
  • Passion to solve analytical problems in domain of sustainability, balance sheet analytics and risk & regulatory assignments
  • Exposure to risk/regulatory services and stress testing for banks and financial institutions with focus on Climate Strategy, Climate Risk Modeling, Corporate sectors, Balance Sheet Management/Optimization, Stress Testing etc.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and, intellectual curiosity
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex ideas into clear messages
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment
  • Bachelors/Masters in a relevant technical discipline: Computer Science; Math; Statistics; Engineering; Science; Management from top tier institutes
  • CFA / FRM is a plus
