Role: (JOB SUMMARY)

Moody's Analytics' MAIPL division has an exciting new opportunity for an Assistant Director in fixed income credit research. The Assistant Director will directly manage a team of analysts, coordinate and direct analyst workload, and take responsibility for the accuracy and quality of the analytical work produced by the team while also developing additional research, content, data, and analytical tools to meet customers' needs. In addition, the individual will support MAIPL management to attract, hire, develop, motivate and retain talented analytical staff.

This is an internally facing role requiring regular and extensive interactions with MAIPL and MA teams in Gurgaon, New York, and London and requires excellent English language skills. The role is based in Gurgaon.

The incumbent should be a highly motivated individual who has a strong track record of successful leadership, organizational, teamwork skills and accomplishments within fixed income credit analysis.

The Assistant Director will support the development of strategies to grow revenues and drive customer retention. Day to day work will focus on contributing to and managing analyst teams carrying out credit research work on the high yield, distressed, and investment grade companies.

Responsibilities:

Business Line Responsibilities:
  • Detailed fixed income credit analysis including identify all levels of debt tranches, corporate and funding structure, and mapping guarantees and collateral.
  • Waterfall analysis to determine priority of debt structure and debt recovery scenarios at all debt levels.
  • Calculation of adjusted debt and analysis of off balance sheet debt items.
  • Evaluate bond indentures and loan agreements to assess the covenant protection, debtholder's mutual rights and priorities, and any specific clauses/provisions which could impact the risk/return profile of the trade or investment.
  • Track and report news, events, and macro market developments on coverage names, or as required.
  • Understand and summarize target company's business model and strategy, industry scenario, and key risks to enable development of broad understanding under tight deadlines.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations on companies describing business model, strategy, industry scenario, capital structure, covenants and key risks associated with the investments.
  • Develop an insightful opinion on the company's projected financial performance through building cash flows models.
  • Management and Leadership Responsibilities:
  • This role will contribute to and manage a team of financial analysts that is responsible for delivery of a high quality set of fixed income credit analyses.
  • Allocation of work and assignments to teams, and maintain schedules of work flows for teams, and responsible for quality of work product.
  • Detailed documentation of analyses, methods, and operating procedures is required.


Qualifications
Required
  • Undergraduate/first-level degree (e.g., Bachelor's) or graduate/second-level degree (e.g. MBA, Master's) with an emphasis in finance, economics, accounting, math, or related quantitative field preferred.
  • CFA preferred.
  • 9+ years of relevant work experience
  • Subject matter expertise in fixed income credit analysis and excellent financial modelling skills.
  • Excellent English language skills; proficiency in other foreign languages (e.g. Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, or Russian) is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and other regional accounting principles.
  • Significant experience managing teams, and maintaining consistent delivery targets and schedules.
  • Experience documenting methodologies, standards, and operating procedures.
  • Experience managing large complex projects.
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, flexibility during earnings season.
  • Team players who must show the willingness to work with cross functional teams across many time zones.
  • Swing shift and night shift flexibility preferred.
